Embracing the Unknown

Farmlife

This year 2022 started with a bang! Our flowers became so popular, and we gained some really incredible clients that used our flowers for their events and businesses.

Suddenly we got the news, our farm is sold we have to move on. What now! Where do we go with our nethouse and all the flowers? We used to think we thrive on challenges and changes, but we soon found ourselves fearful and hurt. The toughest part of change is the unknown. Where to now?

We are true homesteaders, horse riders, hands on farmers, hardworking businessman and home makers. How on earth can we not live on a farm?

The great search for new property began, and our hearts got broken a few times. We suddenly realised, there is nothing for us in our current province, and maybe we should go with the flow of change. Thinking of a river, going with the flow rather than clinging onto the banks. Revisiting our dreams helped a lot. What did we want? Changing our mindset helped us turn the sad negative into a great opportunity to move to the Garden Route where we have always dreamt of going. This change, especially for our children to go to the incredible schools we’ve dreamt about, now just a little bit sooner than anticipated.

After a lot of decluttering, packing, mindset adjusting and saying goodbye to our sheep, chickens and the incredible sunsets on our farm, we started to get excited! Excited about the possibility of the unknown. The fear of the unknown soon changed into hope for the future.

I am very happy to say, I have the best people surrounding me! Firstly my amazing husband, the warrior that makes me feel I can take on the world. He analyses things and works out strategies that put me to ease. My very resilient and strong courageous kids that can work so hard and also dream and enjoy it at the same time! And then our friends and family that support us in so many ways!

Our flowers will continue in Gauteng thanx to a few warriors that support us! And I am very excited to announce, VANDERFAX will be opening a new beautiful farm in the Garden Route that will be open to the public to visit and enjoy by spring 2022! We are so excited about this project and promise to share the whole story with you as it progresses!

What I would really like to leave with you today is the fact that sometimes you shouldn’t fight or fear change, rather go with the flow. God is in control!
