Jakkie & Nina's Beach Wedding

Usually after a wedding and all the hard work that goes into it, I say to myself, I’m glad its over and done! But not this time. This time around I keep missing it and wanting to go back. Let me tell you all about it.

So it turned out that the weather was going to be dreadful on their wedding day. I got a call on Wednesday from Nina asking if I can fly to Plettenberg bay on Thursday so we could do the wedding two days earlier due to bad weather. Panic hit, as I realised that I am still at a destination fashion shoot, only due to finish on Thursday afternoon. Overwhelmed I continued with the fashion shoot like a duck on water, thinking: “How on earth can I make this work, how will I keep both clients happy?” After careful planning, a very hard days work it turned out that if I get up at three on Thursday morning to prepare and pack, I can shoot the final items of the fashion shoot between 5:30 and 7am. Jump in my car and drive two hours to the airport, immediately check in and carry only hand luggage, fly to PE arrive at 1pm, jump in the car with Nina’s dad, whom was already waiting for me ready to drive 2 hours to the hotel where Nina was getting ready, arriving 5 minutes before she got into her dress. Phew….. and from there on I could relax and photograph one of my favourite weddings of all time, one I will never forget. At 12pm that evening, I went to bed, slept like a baby and realised how fortunate I was to be able to do what I do, enjoy it so much and to be able to meet amazing people and spend time with them on their special occasions. Makes me feel like a VIP every single time.
